Come, Learn, Be Heard!

Thursday, June 9 at 7 p.m. at Alma College Dow Science Bldg. Room L-1
Jon Allan, director of the Michigan Office of the Great Lakes, is coming to town to listen to our concerns about the Pine River. The river provides about 25% of the drinking water for Alma and St. Louis. It contains excessive amounts of e-coli and algae; has repeatedly tested positive for antibiotic resistant bacteria and is filling with an increasing amount of sediment. Last summer e-coli levels were so high the Mid Michigan District Health Department posted warnings advising residents to avoid contact with the water. Restoring the health of the Pine River requires understanding the issues, taking action and enacting legislation.

This is your chance to tell Director Allan why we are worried about the Pine River, and what we would like to see happen.

This event takes the place of our regular Healthy Pine River monthly meeting. Please share this information with everyone you know who has a stake in the health of the river. Which is everyone! If you can only make one HPR meeting a year, this is the one! Please come. You won’t get a better chance to have your concerns heard.
