About Us

The purpose of Healthy Pine River is to bring together residents and other parties interested in the restoration of the Pine River's natural waterway and its tributaries.

Our Mission

Healthy Pine River's major functions will be to obtain improved water quality and sediment by the removal of harmful bacteria, agricultural nutrients, invasive species, and human-caused sandbars and land formations. Healthy Pine River will work with the City of Alma, the City of St. Louis, Mid-Michigan District Health Department, Gratiot County Parks and Recreation, Gratiot County Conservation District, Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, other agencies, contractors and the community at large. The task force will inform and educate the community by holding meetings with presentations, papers and discussion; and by using the media of newspapers, radio, and television to awaken public interest.
